The devastation a few years ago
in Kelowna, BC shows us that more needs to be done. Hundreds of
homes
were
destroyed, tens of thousands of people were evacuated,
and millions of dollars a day were spent on fire fighting.

We are saddened by
the loss, and we salute the brave fire fighters and all the people
who helped with the evacuation efforts.
We need to invest more
time and efforts into prevention, so that this will not happen
again in the future. Work needs to be done, clearing out brush
and combustible materials adjacent to urban areas. We also need
to
thin out forested
areas, and create more fire breaks.
